• In Budget Rent a Car we worry about the safety of our customers. Next you will find some tips to have a safe and peaceful trip:
  • Before you leave with the car, if you require any driving indications or if you need to look at the maps, please do so before leaving Budget’s office. Our personnel will be glad to assist you.
  • Reading a map while driving is dangerous and may be an indication that you are not familiar with the area.
  • Do not leave visible objects or luggage inside the car, or wherever you travel without being taken care of by a person you trust.
  • Upon reception of your car, get familiar with the operation of the vehicle before leaving, including parking lights, windshield wipers; spare tires, seat belts and doors’ locks.
  • Be always aware of your surroundings and find out the way to get to your destination before leaving.

  • Do not stop if someone from a moving vehicle tells you that something is wrong with your car of if someone hits your car from behind. Go to the closest gas station or well illuminated public area.
  • When in front of a traffic light, leave enough room between your vehicle and the car in front of you in case you have to move quickly. While driving or parking, keep your windows closed and your doors locked at all times.
  • Do not place visible objects inside the vehicle; try to keep them always in the trunk or glove compartment.
  • Learn about vehicles’ emergency signs. Police lights are red and blue. Do not stop if you see only white flashing lights. Do not put up resistance if a stranger demands you to hand over your valuable belongings. Your wellbeing is more important that your belongings. Use your seat belts at all times. It is mandatory and may save your life in case of an accident.
  • Do not pick up hitchhikers under any circumstance. Keep the keys of the car handy and check around the car before getting in.
  • Do not take shortcuts to save time and do not leave the highway.
  • Use ATMs only in busy areas without any obstruction and count your money inside the car with the doors locked.

  • If your car breaks down in one main public road, close the doors, use your flashing lights and wait for the police to arrive. If someone offers to assist you, ask him to call the police.
  • If you see a car apparently in need, do not stop even if you are asked to do so. If you have a mobile phone, call the police to ask for help.
  • If your need information or directions, drive to a gas station or store. Asking for indications to people on the street is a sure way to get lost.
  • If you are involved in an accident, call the insurance company and Budget’s offices. You will find the insurance documents in the glove compartment.

BE ALERT. Try to avoid distractions. Pay attention to what you are doing.

LOOK AND ANALYZE your surroundings and beyond that. Looking is not enough,
you must observe and analyze traffic conditions and everything that happens
 around.

IDENTIFY ANY POSSIBLE RISK OR DANGER. It is better to be suspicious and
even evil-minded. If we assume a possible risk we will be prepared to face it. After
all, it will only exist in our minds.

MAKE A DECISION ON WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF DANGER. If we imagine the
risk, it will be easier to think ahead of time about the best preventive or
corrective action. If we don’t do this ahead of time, maybe we will not be ready to
make the most convenient decision when the time comes.

ACT TIMELY. This will be the rule of THUMB, since it is much easier and will ALWAYS give us time to avoid risks and their consequences.
