History

Budget Rent a Car started operations in Mexico in 1996 as another office of the worldwide corporate, operating in Mexico City and Merida, Yucatan..

The brand belonged originally to two Mexican companies and was later acquired by RENTE S.A. DE C.V. in 1983, a company experienced in the car rental business due to the fact that it was founded in 1967 by thirteen Ford dealers to manage the brand Rente Ford. At the beginning, Rente Ford accounted with only thirteen units and one point of sale, however, soon it was able to expand its offices to eight cities of Mexico and their respective airports. Then, the company decided to acquire the license of the prestigious brand Budget Rent a Car.

This way, RENTE S.A. DE C.V. started operations as Budget Rent a Car Mexico with offices in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Toluca, Puebla, Acapulco, Ixtapa, Puerto Vallarta, Saltillo and Lazaro Cardenas. It also started licensing centers to several companies throughout the country. At present, the company has about 550 employees distributed in over 100 offices in Mexico.

Our fleet around the world is about 275,000 vehicles, one of the biggest fleets of vehicles in the globe. Budget Rent a Car was founded in 1958 to serve customers "aware of their budget." In 2003 the company celebrated its 45 anniversary.
